FELLOWSHIP NEWS & CONCERNS. We must begin with our concerns for Ken and Jean S. Their situation has been very difficult and changeable of late and at the time of print they are both in hospital needing lot of care and all of our prayer support. Pray for their day to day needs and also their future which is going to be far from straightforward. Rev McDade led a very suitable funeral service in June for Mrs Dorothy Horrocks. We send our condolences to her family. Our new friend at church, Maria from Moldavia has asked if anyone would be able to take her as a paying guest from September to December/January. Her present accommodation ends in September and she would prefer to live with a Christian friend in the Leigh area. She works part time and needs to be in the locale. Could you help? We do once more need to lovingly ask everyone to contribute to a period of “stillness” and quiet in church before the service starts to allow us to draw near to God in quiet anticipation. At the AGM in October we will be looking to appoint/reappoint deacons. All 3 current deacons are coming to the end of their terms of office, It is not yet clear whether all will stand for re-election or not. In any case 3 is the bare minimum, so we would like to appoint more deacons. WE NEED TO BE PRAYING ABOUT THIS NOW, and seeking God’s direction as to who we should be calling to serve Him in this important way. Our rules state that deacons must be over 18 and have been a church member for 1 year. There is a process to follow for making nominations which Val will explain nearer the time.
