Prayer Meetings every Tues at 11.15am

Sat Dec 2nd Coffee Morning 10.30am -12 noon.

** we have seen a significant drop in people attending coffee mornings : sometimes only a handful including kitchen volunteers, ** This is the best cup of coffee and chat in Leigh, asking only a donation, and has been a great source of fellowship and contact over many many years. A future church meeting discussion and decision may be needed to discuss continuing in 2018.

FLOWER DONORS, Nov 5th Mrs Ackers Nov 12th Nov 19th Josephine Kay Nov 26th Ann Bond Dec 3rd I M O Stephen D and Eileen B.

FELLOWSHIP NEWS AND CONCERNS.

We have been concerned for some weeks by Mrs Ackers’ absence from church and know she has had a significant health issue and investigations, By all accounts, which we trust are correct, the outcome is favourable and we very much look forward to sharing fellowship with her once more and praise God for His care at this time.

We know members have had their own health issues, or have been involved in supporting loved ones with theirs. Let’s be glad that we can offer this support and pray for continued strength and patience to carry on.

We continue to ask for your prayerful support of Avril Lenders and family, including Norman and Martin Tildsley, as they experience loss and multiple health concerns.

Jean Donagain wants to thank all those who sponsored the PD walk in October and confidently expects the total raised to be over £1,000.

Paul Morris’s funeral was well attended by friends and family. Our condolences to Roslyn and family.

Biblical Proportions

I heard a politician on TV talking about a catastrophe of “biblical proportions”. The term has a popular meaning and use, but it set me thinking about deeper meanings of “God’s proportion”:

Ten thousand times ten thousand encircling the throne

Six hundred thousand men plus women and children crossing the Red Sea

One hundred and forty four thousand redeemed from the earth

Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision

Over a hundred and twenty thousand penitent Ninevites

Saul’s thousands and David’s tens of thousands

Seven thousand who had not bowed their knee to Baal

Five thousand hungry people miraculously fed

Three thousand new believers at Pentecost

Seven hundred and fifty false prophets at Carmel

Gideon’s three hundred warriors

Seventy two workers to gather the harvest

A dozen disciples, and one of them a demon

Two or three gathered together

A widow of Zarephath, a deaf-mute, a leper, an outcast at the well

SCIENCE & THE STARS

Ecclesiastes 11:5 As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things.

Science is the finite study of what infinite God created.

Science examines the boundaries of time and space, while God transcends both time and space.
